Women’s Chorus - First Period (7:30-8:20)
Women’s Chorus (9th-12th) consists of auditioned treble singers from beginning to intermediate ability. A good foundation of choral technique, vocal production, and music literacy are reinforced in this class. Women’s Chorus performs in 4 concerts a year and participate annually at UIL Concert and Sight Reading Evaluation or similar competition.
Men’s Chorus - Second Period (8:25-9:15)
Men’s Chorus (9th-12th) consists of auditioned Tenor/Bass singers from beginning to intermediate ability. A good foundation of choral technique, vocal production, and music literacy are reinforced in this class. Men’s Chorus performs in 4 concerts a year and participate annually at UIL Concert and Sight Reading Evaluation or similar competition.
Concert Chorale - Third Period (9:20-10:15)
Concert Chorale (10th-12th) serves as the Varsity Mixed Ensemble, as well as the Varsity Men (Chorale Men) and Varsity Women (Chorale Women.) They are the most advanced and dedicated students in the program. Comprised of mostly Juniors and Seniors, these students are required to participate in the TMEA All-State Process and are highly encouraged to participate in Solo and Ensemble Competition. In addition to the normal concerts, they are required to sing in Extra Concerts from time to time. Students are also expected to attend after school rehearsals in the Spring to ensure that their Varsity Mens and Womens Music is prepared for UIL Concert and Sight Reading Evaluation.
True North - Fourth Period (10:20-11:15)
This Small Group of 12-20 advanced singers (10th-12th) focus on various styles of music from jazz to pop to chamber music throughout the year. Concurrent membership in Concert Chorale is also required. True North members must be available to perform a variety of extra performances during the school day and after school. As the face of the organization, students must stay in good standing in all classes and abide by a “higher standard of conduct.” Members are required to participate in the TMEA All State Process and compete as a soloist in UIL Solo and Ensemble Competition.
Chamber Singers - Sixth Period (12:45-1:35)
Chamber Singers (9th-12th) consists of intermediate to advanced treble singers. The foundations of choral technique are carried to the next level in this ensemble preparing singers for the Varsity level. Chamber Singers are required to participate in either the TMEA All State Process, or in Solo and Ensemble Competition. Chamber Singers performs in 4 concerts a year and participate annually at UIL Concert and Sight Reading Evaluation.
